Participatory Planning and Roadmap Development Workshop for the Smart City of Candon

Candon City recently initiated a three-day Participatory Planning and Roadmap Development Workshop to pave the way for its Smart City project. The event led by Dr. Teresita A. Tabaog, the Office of the Regional Director of DOST-1, in coordination with PSTO-Ilocos Sur, gathered department heads from the City of Candon and the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College.

This workshop is a joint effort involving several key partners, including Isabela State University, the City Government of Cauayan in Isabela, and DOST RO2, who are actively involved as facilitators and resource speakers. With their valuable expertise and insights, these institutions contribute significantly to the success of the planning process.

Isabela State University’s participation in the workshop underscores its vital role in this initiative. By collaborating with other academic and governmental entities, the university brings together research capabilities and practical knowledge to drive innovation and advance the Smart City agenda in Candon.

The workshop aims to harness the collective wisdom and expertise of the participants in creating a comprehensive roadmap for Candon City’s Smart City transformation. Over the next two days, attendees will engage in discussions, exchange insights, and propose strategies to leverage technology and data-driven solutions for urban development. The focus will be on integrating smart infrastructure, enhancing connectivity, promoting sustainability, and improving the overall quality of life for Candon City residents.

Through the active involvement of multiple stakeholders, including Isabela State University, the local government, and regional authorities, Candon City takes significant strides toward its vision of becoming a Smart City. This collaborative partnership among these institutions demonstrates a shared commitment to fostering scientific advancements that benefit society as a whole.
