Capacity Development, Training Workshop, and Roadmap Development for a Smart, Sustainable Batanes

 

One of the highlights of the Science & Technology Caravan 2023: Beautiful Batanes, Innovative Services for Livelihood and Entrepreneurs (ISLEs) was the Capacity Development Workshop and Smart City Roadmap Formulation held on December 11-12, 2023, at Batanes State College in Basco, Batanes.

Ms. Raquel B. Santos, the DOST Region 2 Focal Person for Smart City, along with Dr. Betchie Aguinaldo, Director of the Business Intelligence Research and Development Center at Isabela State University (ISU), Ms. Johanna F. Tulauan, Assistant Provincial Head of the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), and Ms. Lilian Marasigan, Senior Economic Development Specialist of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), enlightened participants on creating a roadmap for a technologically advanced and sustainable Batanes.

The said Workshop and Smart City Roadmap Formulation showcased DOST Region 02’s commitment to uplift Batanes through Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI). By equipping the Ivatans with the latest knowledge and skills, this initiative ensures that the province is never left behind in the ever- evolving technological landscape, leading towards a smart and sustainable community marked by progress and improved livelihoods.
